Instructed patient about factors that can affect BS such as foods, exercises, illness, stress, quantity of insulin, and when and where insulin is administered.
Instructed patient to take medication with food to minimize GI outset.
Instructed patient to flush all expired medication down the toilet.
Instructed patient to take his/her pills with a full glass of water and drink all the water even if the pill went down with the first swallow.
Instructed patient to refill her/his medication before she/he are completely out of them.
Instructed patient to shake medication for at least one full minute if told to do so.
Patient instructed to advice physician if taking any herbal medicines or dietary supplements.
Instructed patient about Avandia. This is an oral antidiabetic used to decrease blood sugar levels. Avandia is used in DM type II , alone or in combination of other oral antidiabetic drugs.
Instructed patient that he/she may not have to give up eating a slice of cake, but will have to eat a little less bread or potato at the next meal.
Instructed patient to discuss the use of vitamins, minerals or herbal supplements with a doctor since they may interact with diabetic medication.
