There are 6 lifestyle changes that can help to prevent this disease such as loosing extra weight, eating less salt, exercising, limiting alcohol drinks at 2 daily, getting potassium every day, following a diet rich in fruits, vegetables and low-fat dairy products.

Leg edema Teaching 560

Patient was instructed on symptoms of leg edema. If having leg edema feet and legs will initially appear swollen as the day progresses. After a period of time, however, the swelling will set in first thing in the morning and worsen throughout the day. Over time other symptoms will develop: High blood pressure, headaches, increased urination, palpitations, swollen hands and/or wrists, puffy eyes, weight gain.

Patient was instructed on the importance to recognize the symptoms of depression to take action right away. Inability to remember things - fatigue or lost of energy, feeling "dragged out" and tire - lack of appetite or eating too much with accompanying weight changes - no interest in the things that used to bring pleasure - not sleeping at night or sleeping too much.

Patient was instructed about how to get a balanced diet: choose a variety of nutrient-dense foods and beverages among the basic food groups, balance calories from foods and beverages with physical activity to manage body weight, choose fiber-rich fruits, vegetables, and whole grains often, eat 2 cups of fruit and 2 1/2 cups of vegetables daily (for someone eating 2,000 calories) and other way to get the goals will be explained in next teaching. Further teaching is needed.

Patient was instructed on Hyperglycemia. Careful control is needed to reduce the risk of long term complications. This is theoretically achievable with a combinations of diet, exercises, and weight loss, various diabetic drugs, and insulin use.

Patient was instructed on Hyperglycemia. Diabetes can be reduced making changes in diet and increasing physical activity. It is recommended to maintain an healthy weight having a modest fat intake and eating sufficient fiber.

Patient was instructed on diabetes symptoms. The initial symptoms of diabetes are related to high blood glucose levels. These symptoms include excessive urination, thirst and hunger, weight loss, and increased susceptibility to infections, especially of the skin.
