Patient was instructed on Osteoporosis. Healthy eating can actually help you lower your risk for disease. To prevent disease it is recommend eating lots of fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and low-fat or nonfat dairy products and limiting foods high in salt, saturated fat, trans fat, cholesterol, and added sugar.

Fall precautions Teaching 599

Patient was instructed on measures to prevent falls at home during daily activities store household items on lower shelves so there is no need to climb or reach high. Or use a reaching device that you can buy at a medical supply store. To climb for something, use a step stool with handrails.

Foot care Teaching 631

Patient was instructed about the skin damage: the skin may be dry and cracked because of high glucose levels, and cracked skin means it's easier for bacteria to get under the skin and harder for infections to heal. Use a small amount of skin lotion daily, to be sure the feet feel dry - not damp or sticky - afterwards. Try not to get the lotion in between the toes. Keep the toenails trimmed and filed smooth to avoid ingrown toenails. Further teaching is needed.

Patient was instructed on the importance of not miss any meals during the day. It is better to eat at regular intervals, having 3 meals per day and 3 snacks and to avoid consuming sweet / high carbohydrate foods content.

Patient was instructed on Hyperglycemia. Glucose tolerance progressively declines with age, leading to a high prevalence of type 2 diabetes and post challenge hyperglycemia in the older population. Age-related glucose intolerance in humans is often accompanied by insulin.

Hypoglycemia Teaching 777

Patient was instructed on how to avoid hypoglycemia. Start off every day with a healthy breakfast containing fruits, vegetables and high fiber foods such as oatmeal. Eat frequent small meals (rich in complex carbs, protein and fiber) throughout the day.
