Hydrocodone Teaching 1901

SN instructed caregiver about Hydrocodone. Hydrocodone is used to treat moderate to severe pain and as an antitussive to treat cough. Common side effects of hydrocodone may include, nausea, vomiting, constipation, drowsiness, dizziness, lightheadedness, fuzzy thinking, anxiety, abnormally happy or sad mood, dry throat, difficulty urinating, rash, itching, and narrowing of the pupils. Serious side effects include slowed or irregular breathing and chest tightness. Symptoms of hydrocodone overdose include narrowed or widened pupils, slow, shallow, or stopped breathing, slowed or stopped heartbeat, cold, clammy, or blue skin, excessive sleepiness, loss of consciousness, seizures, or death. Hydrocodone can be habit-forming, causing physical and psychological dependence.

Temazepam Teaching 1902

SN instructed that Temazepam is used to treat sleep problems (insomnia). It may help you fall asleep faster, stay asleep longer, and lessen how often you wake up during the night, so you can get a better night's rest. Temazepam belongs to a class of drugs called sedative-hypnotics. It acts on your brain to produce a calming effect. SN also instructed on side effects such as, dizziness or difficulty with coordination. If either of these effects persists or worsens, tell your doctor or pharmacist promptly. To reduce the risk of dizziness or falling, get up slowly when rising from a sitting or lying position.

Furosemide Teaching 1914

SN instructed that Furosemide is used to reduce extra fluid in the body (edema) caused by conditions such as heart failure, liver disease, and kidney disease. This can lessen symptoms such as shortness of breath and swelling in your arms, legs, and abdomen. SN instructed that common side effects include dizziness, lightheadedness, headache, or blurred vision may occur as your body adjusts to the medication.

Meloxicam Teaching 1922

SN instructed that Meloxicam is a not steroidal anti-inflammatory drug with analgesic and fever reducer effects. Possible can result in gastrointestinal toxicity and bleeding, headaches, rash, and very dark or black stool. Like other NSAIDs, its use is associated with an increased risk of cardiovascular events such as heart attack and stroke. It has fewer gastrointestinal side effects than diclofenac,, piroxicam, and naproxen, and perhaps all other NSAIDs.

Ciprofloxacin HCL Teaching 1928

SN instructed that the ciprofloxacin is an antibiotic that can treat a number of bacterial infections. The most common side effects of ciprofloxacin are: nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal pain, rash, headache, and restlessness. Other important side effects include:hives and anaphylaxis (shock), pseudomembranous colitis, among others.

Lasix Teaching 1937

SN instructed in possible adverse reactions to Lasix, including dehydration, orthostatic hypotension, loss of potassium and other electrolytes, weakness, and fatigue. Lasix is used to reduce extra fluid in the body (edema) caused by conditions such as heart failure, liver disease, and kidney disease. This can lessen symptoms such as shortness of breath and swelling in your arms, legs, and abdomen. This drug is also used to treat high blood pressure. Lowering high blood pressure helps prevent strokes, heart attacks, and kidney problems. Lasix is a "water pill" (diuretic) that causes you to make more urine. This helps your body get rid of extra water and salt.

Flonase Teaching 1943

SN instructed patient about Flonase ( Fluticasone). It is used to treat asthma, allergic rhinitis, nasal polyps, various skin disorders and Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis. If taken correctly, the nasal spray and oral inhaler formulation have less corticosteroid side effects than the tablet formulation because they limit systemic absorption. However, if the spray or inhaler is used at higher than recommended doses or with other corticosteroids, serious side effects can occur. These systemic corticosteroid side effect include weakened immune system, increased risk of systemic infections, osteoporosis, and elevated pressure in the eyes. Nasal spray common side effects may include nasal irritation, HA, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, nosebleed, and cough. Rare side effects include painful white patches in nose or throat, sore throat, bruising , vision problems, swelling of face or neck, and difficulty breathing or swallowing.

Apixaban Teaching 1960

SN instructed patient about the Eliquis, also known as Apixaban is an anticoagulant. “ANTI” means against and “COAGULANT” refers to the clotting of blood. Apixaban is a medicine ordered by your doctor to prevent harmful blood clots from forming. It does not dissolve existing clots. Sometimes apixaban is referred to as a “blood thinner”, but it does not actually thin your blood. Apixaban is commonly prescribed to people with a heart rhythm problem called atrial fibrillation. Atrial fibrillation increases the risk of a clot forming in the heart. A clot in the heart can dislodge and cause a stroke. The role of apixaban in patients with atrial fibrillation is to prevent formation of a clot in the heart and lower the risk of stroke. Tell your doctor right away if you have these side effects: Unusual bleeding: Vomiting blood or brown material that looks like coffee grounds, Bleeding from cuts that do not stop with pressure, Frequent bleeding from Coughing up blood gums, Nose bleeds, Black or red tarry stools, Bruises that appear without injury, blood in your urine, excessive vaginal bleeding / menstrual flow, Weakness, lightheadedness, dizziness, or fainting Itching or hives, Swelling in your face, hands, mouth, or throat Difficulty breathing or chest tightness.

Benadryl Teaching 1969

SN instructed patient / caregiver about Diphenhydramine( Benadryl). It is a first-generation antihistamine used to treat a number of conditions including allergic symptoms and itchiness, the common cold, insomnia, motion sickness, and extrapyramidal symptoms. It is a potent anticholinergic agent. This activity is responsible for multiples side effects such as: dry mouth and throat, increased heart rate, pupil dilation, urinary retention, constipation, and, at high doses, hallucinations or delirium. Other side effects include motor impairment, flushed skin, blurred vision at near point owing to lack of accommodation, abnormal sensitivity to bright light (photophobia), sedation, difficulty concentrating, short-term memory loss, visual disturbances, irregular breathing, dizziness, irritability, itchy skin, confusion, increased body temperature, temporary erectile dysfunction, and excitability, and although it can be used to treat nausea, higher doses may cause vomiting. Report any Side effect / Adverse reaction to Physician / Nurse as needed.

Doxycycline Teaching 1972

SN instructed patient that Doxycycline is an antibiotic used in the treatment of a number of types of infections caused by bacteria and protozoa. Doxycycline can be used either by mouth or intravenously. Common side effect may include diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, a red rash, and an increased risk of a sunburn. Avoid combination of doxycycline with dairy, antacids, calcium supplements, iron products, and laxatives containing magnesium since these foods and supplements may decrease doxycycline's effectiveness.
