It is used to treat certain inflammatory diseases and for many different indications including: asthma, COPD, CIDP, rheumatic disorders, allergic disorders, ulcerative colitis and Crohn's disease, adrenocortical insufficiency, hypercalcemia due to cancer, thyroiditis, laryngitis, severe tuberculosis, urticaria ( hives ), lipid pneumonitis. Possible side effect may include, Increased blood sugar for diabetics, Difficulty controlling emotion, Difficulty in maintaining train of thought, Weight gain, Immunosuppression, Facial swelling, Severe, Depression, mania, psychosis, or other psychiatric symptoms, Unusual fatigue or weakness, Mental confusion / indecisiveness, Memory and attention dysfunction (Steroid dementia syndrome), Blurred vision. Take prednisone as ordered.
SN instructed that the ibuprofen at low doses it does not appear to increase the risk of myocardial infarction; however, at higher doses it may. It may result in worsened asthma. Like other NSAIDs it works by inhibiting the synthesis of prostaglandins, which are fat-like molecules that are derived from the omega-6 fatty acid, arachidonic acid, which are involved in mediating inflammation, pain and fever. You should not take tramadol if you are allergic to it, or if you have: severe asthma or breathing problems; a blockage in your stomach or intestines; if you have recently used alcohol, sedatives, tranquilizers, or narcotic medications. SN instructed on Morphine. This is used to treat moderate to severe pain. Short - acting formulations are taken as needed for pain. You should not take morphine if you have severe asthma or breathing problems, a blockage in your stomach or intestines, or a bowel obstruction called paralytic ileus. Morphine can slow or stop your breathing. Never use this medicine in larger amounts, or for longer than prescribed. Do not crush, break, or open an extended - release pill. Swallow it whole to avoid exposure to a potentially fatal dose. Morphine may be habit - forming, even at regular doses. Never share this medicine with another person, especially someone with a history of drug abuse or addiction. Keep the medication in a place where others cannot get to it. Take morphine exactly as prescribed by your doctor. Follow all directions on your prescription label.

SN instructed patient / caregiver on common side effects including upper respiratory tract infection & headaches. SN instructed to call physician / nurse for adverse effects including nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, mouth or throat candidiasis, or musculoskeletal pain.
SN instructed about Ventolin HFA ( albuterol sulfate inhalation aerosol ) is a bronchodilator used to treat or prevent bronchospasm in people with reversible obstructive airway disease. Ventolin HFA is also used to prevent exercise - induced bronchospasm. Ventolin HFA is an albuterol inhaler that helps relieve bronchospasm and its symptoms. Ventolin HFA acts within minutes, and symptom relief should last 4 to 6 hours. Albuterol treats bronchospasm by quickly opening the airways within your lungs to ease breathing during an asthma attack.
Sn teaching patient that Atrovent ( Ipratropium ) is used to help control the symptoms of lung diseases, such as asthma, chronic bronchitis, and emphysema. It is also used to treat air flow blockage and prevent the worsening of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease ( COPD ).
SN instructed caregiver that Floranex has been used as a probiotic to aid in digestion, to prevent diarrhea, and to relieve symptoms of irritable bowel syndrome. This medicine may work by helping the body maintain normal consistency of bacteria in the stomach and intestines. You should not use Floranex if you are allergic to soy products or if you are lactose intolerant. To make sure you can safely use Floranex, tell your healthcare provider if you have asthma or allergies. Get emergency medical help if you have any of these signs of an allergic reaction: hives; chest tightness, difficulty breathing; swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat. Less serious side effects may be more likely, and you may have none at all.
Patient instructed on Symbicort as following: is used long-term to improve symptoms of COPD, including chronic bronchitis and emphysema, for better breathing and fewer flare-ups. Do not use Symbicort for sudden severe symptoms of COPD or asthma. Use only as directed. SE include chest pain, fast and irregular heartbeat, tremor, increased blood pressure, headache or nervousness, Fungal infection in your mouth or throat (thrush). Rinse your mouth with water without swallowing after using Symbicort to help reduce your chance of getting thrush. Call your healthcare provider if you notice any of the following symptoms: increase in mucus production or change in color, fever, increased cough, chills, or increased breathing problems.
Instructed patient on new medication Sulindac. Sulindac may also be used for purposes not listed. Sulindac can increase your risk of fatal heart attack or stroke, especially if you use it long term or take high doses, or if you have heart disease. Even people without heart disease or risk factors could have a stroke or heart attack while taking this medicine. You should not use sulindac if you are allergic to it, or if you have ever had an asthma attack or severe allergic reaction after taking aspirin or an NSAID. Patient verbalized understanding.
