Colorectal Cancer Teaching 1399

The patient was instructed in colorectal cancer in the care of the surgical dressing, explaining how to inspect the incision. The patient was advised in maintaining regular bowel movements, eat a high-fiber, low-fat diet, and avoid constipation.

The patient was taught perianal and perianeal skin care. The patient was encouraged a diet is bland, low in residue, fiber, and fat, but high in protein, calories, carbohydrates, and vitamins. The patient was recommended to evade seasoned foods, raw fruits and vegetables, foods containing rough cereals, bran, seeds or nuts, milk, fatty or fried foods, caffeine, alcohol and carbonated beverages.

General information Teaching 1718

SN instructed patient on low salt diet. SN instructed patient on how to read nutritional labels on commercially prepared foods. Other salt alternatives such as Mrs. Dash was encouraged. SN explained how sodium affects blood pressure and water retention.

Gallbladder surgery Teaching 1847

Instructed patient go easy on fat. Avoid high-fat foods, fried and greasy foods, and fatty sauces and gravies. Instead, choose nonfat or low-fat foods. Read labels and look for foods with 3 grams of fat or less a serving.

Hypertension Teaching 1970

SN instructed patient about some measures aimed to managing & controlling hypertension, such as: eating low sodium diet , increase more fruits to increase your potassium, walk daily for 30 minutes, and have regular check-ups, as directed by Physician.

High blood pressure Teaching 2011

SN instructed patient on high blood pressure. The high blood pressure is a common condition and when not treated, can cause damage to the brain, heart, blood vessels, kidneys, and other parts of the body. Damage to these organs may cause heart disease, a heart attack, heart failure, stroke, kidney failure, loss of vision, and other problems. In addition to taking medication, making lifestyle changes will also help to control your blood pressure. These changes include eating a diet that is low in fat and salt, maintaining a healthy weight, exercising at least 30 minutes most days, not smoking, and using alcohol in moderation.

Thyroid hormone Teaching 2035

SN instructed patient about how the thyroid hormone helps regulate metabolism. When this hormone is abnormally low the energy production decreases, disrupting many vital functions. This can include skin issues such as: Coldness in the fingers and feet with pale and dry coarse skin, eczema, a yellowish hue to the skin, sparse and brittle hair, which comes out in handfuls, loss of hair in the outer third of eyebrows, slow growing, ridged and brittle nails, edema in face, eyelids, hands and feet, and delayed wound healing. Some of these things can be avoided if you are taking your replacement medication daily as ordered and are getting regular blood work to assure the medication is at the correct dose.

Colostomy care Teaching 2048

SN Instructed the patient about Colostomy Care and healthy eating. Healthy foods include: fruits, vegetables, whole - grain breads, low - fat dairy
 products, and lean meats. Do not eat foods that give you cramps or diarrhea.

Hyperlipidemia Teaching 2072

Sn instructed patient on managing hyperlipidemia means controlling cholesterol and triglycerides. Read food labels and choose foods with low cholesterol and saturated trans fat. For people who would benefit from lowering their cholesterol, the American Heart Association recommends aiming for a dietary pattern that limits saturated fat to 5 to 6 percent of daily calories and reduces the percent of calories from trans fat.
