Instructed in risk factors associated with heart disease, including smoking, family history, hypertension, stress and diet.
Instructed in S/S of complications associated with CHF, including bounding pulse, decreased urinary output, increased SOB, increased edema and sudden weight gain.
Instructed in possible adverse reactions to Isordil, including headache, dizziness, decrease in B/P with position changes, rapid heart rate, palpitations, flushing and ankle edema.
Instructed in the importance of proper foot care, including the wearing of properly fitting shoes and socks, correct trimming of the toe nails, and avoidance of injury to the legs and feet.
Instructed in S/S of hypoglycemia, including cold sweat, shaking, blurred vision, faintness, hunger, headache, confused thinking and impatience. Instructed if these S/S occur to take fast acting sugar, such as orange juice with sugar or glucose tablets.
Instructed to follow therapeutic diet, including adequate fluid intake to ensure proper nutrition and hydration.
Instructed to post important telephone numbers, including MD, Home Health Agency, Friend/Relative and 911 for any emergency.
Instructed patient about the assessment of chest pain, including amount, frequency, location, duration and any associated symptoms. Also instructed patient to report immediately to his/her doctor.
