Ventolin HFA Teaching 2075

SN instructed about Ventolin HFA ( albuterol sulfate inhalation aerosol ) is a bronchodilator used to treat or prevent bronchospasm in people with reversible obstructive airway disease. Ventolin HFA is also used to prevent exercise - induced bronchospasm. Ventolin HFA is an albuterol inhaler that helps relieve bronchospasm and its symptoms. Ventolin HFA acts within minutes, and symptom relief should last 4 to 6 hours. Albuterol treats bronchospasm by quickly opening the airways within your lungs to ease breathing during an asthma attack.

Aldactone Teaching 2077

SN instructed patient / caregiver that Aldactone is a potassium - sparing diuretic ( water pill ) that prevents the body from absorbing too much salt and keeps potassium levels from getting too low, treating congestive heart failure. SN instructed patient / caregiver to take Aldactone as prescribed by the doctor and do not use salt substitutes or low - sodium milk products that contain potassium, because it may increase potassium levels too much. SN explained that side effects may include mild nausea, dizziness, headache, gastric pain. SN instructed to report to physician ( MD ) if patient experiences an allergic reaction, numbness, muscle pain or weakness, irregular heartbeats, urinating less, shallow breathing or tremors.

Ethambutol Teaching 2087

SN instructed patient / caregiver educated on medication Ethambutol. SN explained to patient that Ethambutol is an anti - tuberculous medication indicated for mycobacterial diseases such as Mycobacterium Avium Complex ( MAC ) and is usually used in combination with other anti - mycobacterial anti - infectives. SN explained that the side effects of this medication includes optic neuritis, hepatitis, abdominal pain, headaches, joint pain, fever, nausea and vomiting. SN instructed patient / caregiver to notify physician ( MD ) if experiencing persistence or worsening of side effects.

Flomax Teaching 2088

SN instructed patient / caregiver on medication Flomax. SN explained that Flomax is indicated for urinary retention such as the case in people who have prostate enlargement. SN explained that side effects of Flomax includes arthralgia, dizziness, flushing, headache, nausea and vomiting. SN instructed patient / caregiver to notify physician ( MD ) if experiencing persistent urinary retention and if experiencing the side effects of this medication persistently.

Hydrochlorothiazide Teaching 2093

SN instructed patient / caregiver on medication Hydrochlorothiazide. SN explained to patient that Hydrochlorothiazide ( HCTZ ) is a medication indicated for edema and hypertension. SN explained to patient / caregiver that it is a diuretic that reduces fluid volume overload which, in turn, lowers blood pressure. Explained that side effects of this medication includes dizziness, dehydration, weakness, pancreatitis, anemia and nausea. SN instructed patient / caregiver to notify physician ( MD ) if experiencing persistence or worsening of side effects.

isosorbide Teaching 2094

SN instructed patient / caregiver about the medication Isosorbide. SN explained that Isosorbide is a medication given to reduce the blood pressure and that it also reduces the heart rate. SN explained that the side effects of this medication includes fatigue, anxiety, weakness, dizziness, tachycardia, pulmonary edema, constipation and dry mouth. SN instructed patient / caregiver to notify physician ( MD ) if experiencing persistence of side effects or if experiencing blurred vision, difficulty breathing, wheezing, dizziness, light - headedness, confusion, depression or dry mouth.

Ketorolac Teaching 2095

SN instructed patient / caregiver instructed on medication Ketorolac. SN explained that Ketorolac is a non - opioid anti - inflammatory drug that works to decrease pain by inhibiting prostaglandin synthesis and producing peripherally mediated analgesia. SN explained that the side effects of this medication includes drowsiness, gastrointestinal bleeding, diarrhea, dry mouth and constipation. SN instructed patient / caregiver to notify physician ( MD ) if experiencing persistence of side effects or if rash, itching, weight gain, edema, black stools, headache, or chills fever or muscle pain develops.

Levothyroxine Teaching 2099

SN instructed patient / caregiver regarding medication Levothyroxine. SN taught patient / caregiver that Levothyroxine is a replacement for a hormone that is normally produced by the thyroid gland to regulate the body's energy and metabolism. SN explained that Levothyroxine is given when the thyroid does not produce enough of this hormone on its own. SN explained that Levothyroxine treats hypothyroidism ( low thyroid hormone ). SN explained that Levothyroxine is also used to treat / prevent goiter. SN taught patient / caregiver about the side effects of this medication such as headache, insomnia, nervous or irritable feeling, fever, hot flashes, sweating, changes in your menstrual periods, appetite changes and weight changes. SN Instructed patient / caregiver to notify physician ( MD ) if experiencing persistent or worsening of side effects.

Lovenox Teaching 2102

SN instructed patient / caregiver regarding medication Lovenox. SN informed patient / caregiver that Lovenox prevents clots from forming in the blood stream. SN instructed to keep prefilled syringes in room temperature 59 - 86°F. SN instructed patient / caregiver on proper administration of Lovenox and provided handout. SN informed that the most common side effect associated with Lovenox is bleeding. SN instructed to call Physician ( MD ) if patient / caregiver experiences any increased pain or symptoms / signs ( s / s ) of internal bleeding. SN Informed that a mild local irritation, pain, hematoma, ecchymosis, and erythema may occur at the site of injection. SN instructed to rotate injection sites around abdomen.

Lyrica Teaching 2103

SN instructed patient / caregiver regarding medication Lyrica. SN instructed patient that Lyrica is used to relieve nerve pain as in fibromyalgia and neuralgia. SN explained to patient / caregiver that side effects of this medication includes ataxia, dizziness, peripheral edema, tremors, and weight gain. SN instructed to notify physician ( MD ) if experiencing persistence or worsening of side effects.
