Patient was instructed on precautions regarding food. Avoid containers that have broken seals. Wash any equipment thoroughly that has come in contact with raw meat or poultry. Never use an egg that has unpleasant odors or cracked shells.
SN instructed about aspiration precautions. Consume honey thick liquids. Do not use a straw to drink fluid. Sit straight up when eating or drinking, have supervision with meals, do not eat alone. Sit up at least 1/2 hour after a meal.
Instructed to patient about eating well with diabetes: eating habits do not have to change if you have diabetes. Your dietitian will help you to develop a meal plan that suits your taste and lifestyle. This plan will help you to keep your blood sugar in your target range. The result will be an eating plan you can enjoy.

SN instructed patient and caregiver that smoking causes cancer, heart disease, stroke, lung diseases, diabetes, and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), which includes emphysema and chronic bronchitis. Smoking also increases risk for tuberculosis, certain eye diseases, and problems of the immune system, including rheumatoid arthritis. It is very important for you to quit smoking to prevent chances of getting any or all of the diseases.
