SN instructed that Janumet is used with a proper diet and exercise program and possibly with other medications to control high blood sugar. It is used in patients with type 2 diabetes. Instructed that common side effects include, nausea, vomiting, stomach upset, diarrhea, headache, weakness, or a metallic taste in the mouth may occur.

SN instructed patient / caregiver on risk factors such as weight, waist size, inactivity, age, family history. SN instructed patient / caregiver on healthy lifestyle choices that can help prevent diabetes such as eating healthy foods, getting more physical activity, losing excess pounds.

SN instructed about arteriosclerotic heart disease (ASHD), also called coronary artery disease (CAD) or coronary heart disease (CHD), refers to arteriosclerosis of heart or coronary arteries. Arteriosclerotic heart disease can also be caused by calcium deposits (calcification) on the walls of arteries that harden them, or thickening of the artery walls due to chronic high blood pressure.

Instructed patient on how sometimes blood flows with enough force to weaken a vessel wall. If the vessel is small or damaged, the wall can break. When this happens blood leaks into nearby tissue and kills cells. Other cells may die because blood cannot reach them.

Patient instructed that Anemia is a condition characterized by an inadequate amount of red blood cells, which are produced in your bone marrow. Red blood cells contain hemoglobin, a substance that picks up oxygen from your lungs, carries it throughout your body, and gives it to your cells. Your cells need oxygen to perform the basic functions that generate energy and keep you alive. In addition, hemoglobin picks up some of the carbon dioxide given off by your cells and returns it to the lungs, where it is exhaled when you breathe out. Without enough red blood cells to transport oxygen to your cells and carbon dioxide away from your cells, your body functions at a less than optimal level.

One way stress affect blood sugar and having a direct effect on it, is as with the stress of a physical illness, prolonged or excessive stress can cause the body to produce hormones that prevent insulin from working properly. That, in turn, increases the blood sugar levels.
